temporary...
...shutdown of this blog while I figure out what to do with my domain and hosting. The Siena Design Project event has inspired me and sparked off a million ideas in my head and I'm trying to externalize whilst being on holiday at the same time.
In the meantime, I will be blogging over at my vox.com. Pictures over at Flickr, of my Siena and NL trips.

Nothing interesting happening. Or maybe I just don't feel like writing anything. I don't feel like anything right now. It's weird. Like the colors here are so vivid they're blinding, yet at the same time they're fading.
Actually, school has started so I am sitting behind my iBook a lot, Skyping into the lectures. I have a feeling it is going to be a nightmare because we're five hours ahead of Italy. Late nights.

hello bananeira.net!
hello hello. i am in the process of moving to bananeira.net from bananeira.com.
this is due to some complicated situation with pixiehost.com. it's unfortunate that i've lost bananeira.com, but i'm making myself comfortable and settled at bananeira.net. i am currently being hosted by mediatemple.com.
in the next few days, i should be completing my move and getting stuff set up, so things will look messy until i get properly settled. check back later perhaps.
update guys, i'm still in the process of moving my data, so images and tags might be missing here and there... just let me know if you find anything weird. thx.

moving bananeira
ugh. my hosting company pixiehost decided to disappear so i will be moving bananeira.com soon. they really started doing weird things end of last year, servers going down, helpdesk not available, and in the users forum a lot of people said they were leaving. this week i could not access my mail and my site for days and since pixiehost.com expired, i figured all was lost.
i haven't been able to access bananeira.com from my home connection for a long time now and i have had to use alternative connections to update my site, how annoying is that?
the crazy thing is, i registered bananeira.com with pixiedomain.comwhich used to be part of pixiehost. sometime last year we all received mails saying pixiedomain will cease to exist, and all domreg-related stuff will go through pixiehost. now they are back online (with a completely different look); however i cannot login with the username and password they originally gave me.
which i translated into: the new pixiedomain is completely new and has nothing to do with pixiehost. however, i sent an email anyway to them and their email address was directed to a pixiehost.com address. and the email didn't even work, my message was bounced back.
how dodgy is that? long story short, i don't know how to transfer bananeira.com. it's really annoying as bananeira has become my identity in the last 2 years.
so yeah, this may well be my last post here. i'm thinking of going with these guysand i am also looking for a new domain name. any suggestions?
other things that made this not my week: someone illegally used my credit card in the UK. the card has been blocked since and mastercard says i'm covered by their program so probably no money will get taken out of my account. that remains to be seen.
plus i caught a virus from robert when he was ill last week, and i ended up with the same illness for a few days. the day i returned to work, everyone was on my back; i had six work meetings in one day! *mampus kan, susah emang jadi orang penting, huehehehe*
anyway, *belanda sedang maha indah* and ben is visiting from london so we are going for drinks and dinner in the sun. yay! have a good weekend everyone!

ideas for blogging alias
so i notice my username for blogging is still miss haryono. using mrs.kortenoeven just reminds me of robert's mom. hummm... must do something about it, but what? i'm at a loss... any ideas?
plus server is still doing weird things... only have limited access on some days *if i'm lucky* so perhaps it is time to move...
oh, started work today. ugh. my mind was everywhere. received a beautiful bouquet of flowers from laszlo and lesh. mine was red, robert's yellow. plus everyone at work said i look different. hummm, am i sporting the "married" look? gerard said i have a "glow" so that must be the spa treatments! *or love?*

concerns
stuff that add a wrinkle to my forehead:
1. domain renewal. for some odd reason, when i tried to renew my domain last month at pixiedomain.com, it went bonkers. pixie internet services are also the people who host me, and now every time i login to try and manage my domains, it just doesn't work. bananeira.com expires friday august 20. shit or what? i've mailed the pixie people; no reply yet. pooohhhh.
dear oh dear. so if you don't see this after friday that means i didn't manage to renew bananeira.com.
2. robert is really ill. he usually doesn't get sick, so it worries me. he has had a continuing headache for a couple of weeks as well as diarrhea. he's been taking norit, though not all the time, and when the headaches get really bad, he takes paracetamol.
today he was already feeling poorly, but insisted on going to work. he's now running a high fever. i water him regularly so he doesn't get dehydrated, and he's all tucked up in bed, but still, i worry. poor baby. :(

uh oh i just caught a spammer leaving adverts for viagra on my blog. thal and avianto have had problems with them before so i should be more alert on these things i guess.

omg, i've been wondering why no one's been leaving comments on my blog. i thought no visitors had come by. now i find out that the comments box doesn't work. why didn't people just contact me and ask, i wonder?
anyway i fixed the link, although the css for the comment box isn't working yet. :(
*edit: ok the css looks okay now. i can see echa trying to catch up with her commenting, as she's left 2 comments already ;)

sick of my layout
i got tired of it, so now my blog looks like this. keep thinking that i should make a header image and a background texture, and i will, once i'm done doing laundry, cleaning the flat, cooking and dishwashing. *sigh*
i haven't changed http://robico.bananeira.com though, so you could still catch a glimpse of my old site there. except my site was in pale blue and gray instead of robico's green.

expanding site
took a while but i got my head into MT. now i got it working with this layout, although maybe some spots are less than perfect. hope to have the hiccups fixed soon-ish.
i expanded the site to several sub-domains:
- <a href="http://visual.bananeira.com">http://visual.bananeira.com</a> is where i am putting a visual blog. i will try to upload an image a day, either photograph of something during the day or a quick sketch. daily visual exercise.
- <a href="http://oneword.bananeira.com">http://oneword.bananeira.com</a> is where i am putting a <a href="http://oneword.invisibleland.tv">one-word</a> blog. the idea is to exercise my writing and thinking; based on one trigger word, what can i write? i hope this will inspire some visual work as well.
- <a href="http://portfolio.bananeira.com">http://portfolio.bananeira.com</a> is where i hope to put up my portfolio of work. but nothing there yet. i need to learn more about MT and its tags before trying to build my portfolio in MT.
- <a href="http://robico.bananeira.com">robico's banana tree</a>. robico is the new resident monkey in my apartment! he came from seattle from bella's, and grabbed a lift to the netherlands on monica's luggage.
yeah, that's about it. sounds like a lot of work to maintain. eak! i hope not anyway.

sub-domains
i cannot make up my mind what to do about my site. i've placed all my photos into http://photography.bananeira.com, my sketches into http://sketch.bananeira.com/ and my journal is here. they are all disjointed and all over the place.
laszlo, joão and robert keep telling me to make up my mind about my own site design. if i can design for others, why can't i manage my own? but that's exactly the problem, i'm too fickle. i don't know when to stop. at least when i design for others, there's a deadline so i stop messing around and get round to making the final damn thing. apparently robert peeked into my laptop and discovered i was on my 7th version of my flash site, and that was when he concluded his girlfriend was a maniac designer obsessed with her own work.
*sigh* anyway soon robert is coming and we are driving up to amsterdam tonight. he wants to get his usual Burger King double whopper with cheese off the highway drive-through but i got a couple of steaks defrosting on the kitchen counter already. so i'm cooking that and he says he'll eat it before we go.
it's queen's day tomorrow which is why we're spending the night at his parents' house near schiphol and tomorrow morning we can head to amsterdam first thing in the morning and have a walkabout and enjoy the street parties and the market. we have tickets to the cirque du soleil show at the amsterdam arena tomorrow afternoon, the show ends early enough so that we can spend the evening meeting friends for drinks and dinner maybe.
looking forward to tomorrow and the weekend. :)

getting things done
i'm having one of those days where i need to get lots of things done, but i just can't motivate myself to do so. i'm supposed to be doing some artwork for a design book submission. i just often feel lethargic and now with the weather getting better, i just want to go outside a lot for walks in the forest or going for a bike ride or sitting in a cafe drinking nice cold drinks and watching people.
my site is now powered by moveable type. thanks to rob dodson who's kindly spent a saturday afternoon helping me install mt on my server. haven't gotten round to making my own layout for this site, still using one of the mt default styles. i hope i get my ass in gear soon.
